Cultivating a Love for Tapestries
Tuesday, April 8th, 2008
Tapestries are a very unique form of art, one that has survived through the ages and has still managed to keep a large following of art aficionados. This is because of the fine quality of the tapestry. Tapestries are both visual works of art as well as crafted works of art. The artist, usually a renowned talent, draws the blueprint of the tapestry design, which the craftsman will recreate in the final work. Jacquard-woven tapestries have very fine quality, as do tapestries that have been hand finished. Last but not least, consider the wide variety of themes that can be worked into tapestry designs. Themes can be abstract, portrait work, international art, travel-oriented art or vintage artwork. Tapestries can be made into pillows, sheets or even into wall hanging products. There is much to love about fine tapestry!
