Storing an Antique Tapestry
For people who own an antique tapestry, it is imperative that it be stored properly when not being displayed. Because it is an antique tapestry, meaning it is at least 100 years old, it needs to be cared for in the right way. First, the tapestry can be stored in a clean, unpainted natural wicker basket with a cover. While the tapestry would get good air ventilation, it would also be protected from dirt and dust. The tapestry should be carefully folded inside white tissue paper and then placed in something without any sharp or jagged edges that could rip or tear the item. However, before any wall tapestry is stored, it is advised to have it professionally dry cleaned. Another option is to use a cardboard box with tiny air holes. The paper used needs to be acid free to ensure the tapestry is not damaged.
